HUMAN FLOURISHING

UCBM promotes a comprehensive approach to education that combines scientific excellence, cutting-edge teaching, and care for the overall well-being of individuals and their social context.

The Human Flourishing Project is the University’s proposal to cultivate the profoundly human dimension of every action.

This interdisciplinary program, developed in collaboration with Harvard University, offers the academic community a space for self-care and reflection on their contribution to society. Through anthropology, positive psychology, and empirical studies, the project explores the importance and value of a happy life through the daily practice of virtue.

The Human Flourishing Project is a broad-based initiative dedicated to exploring and improving the overall well-being and prosperity of individuals and communities. Rooted in the belief that every human being has the potential to lead a life characterized by personal fulfillment, purpose, and happiness, this project aims to promote the integral well-being of individuals and society in everyday life and to contribute to a world in which every human being has the opportunity to flourish.

The first phase of the project involved the student community of the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome with a program divided into five areas of intervention:

  • Happiness and life satisfaction;
  • Meaning and purpose;
  • Virtue and character;
  • Close social relationships;
  • Physical and mental health.

Supporting this project means:
  • Experiencing care by focusing on the academic community, the desire for happiness, and each individual’s aspirations and dreams, accompanying students on a journey that combines scientific preparation, human growth, and citizenship;
  • Working together through experiential methodologies that foster discussion, stimulate dialogue, and encourage the daily practice of virtuous behaviors;
  • Become passionate about your work, discovering that the path to happiness lies in the daily practice of virtues and that work represents an extraordinary yet ordinary opportunity to experience them and help your humanity and our society flourish;
  • Promote study and research through doctoral projects, data collection and analysis, and scientific publications.
